The signs are already coming in. Snoop Dogg is playing a major role in The Price is Right today. The world really will end today. I was getting ready to write about how the Pacers are starting out the year undefeated, but they stubbed their toe in Detroit the other day, so they're 4-1 instead. Can't complain too much about that. They scraped into the playoffs last year, and I really like the moves they made in this offseason. I think they'll get a solid seed and hopefully at least win their first round, if not make the conference finals. They'll need some breaks to make that happen, but it's not impossible. But, yeah, long story short, I love the pick up of David West and think this team has a very bright future. It might be like the Pacers of the Reggie Miller era again* as far as fan interest, which would be awesome. A bit bittersweet, as Indianapolis is famous for being a big bandwagon, but still more sweet than bitter. I really need somebody at the Pacers to see this and hire me to write the book I want to. *In something that may or may not be coincidence, we watched Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs. the New York Knicks last night, and it got me all fired up again. I love that movie. Also, thanks again to my wonderful wife for getting me the 30 for 30 box set. It would be an excellent time for me to write this book. The Colts look like there's a chance they might be on the decline, and Pacers are on the rise, and the NBA's TV numbers keep doing better and better. If the Pacers are going to be a good part of this second rise of the NBA, a book to explain why the Pacers have been such a big thing for Indianapolis would help generate some interest, I think. I was going to write a big post today, but I think I'm going to break it up over the next couple days. Today was basketball, I'll leave you with what I've written and greatly encourage you to reread the post I linked to. I really am proud of that one. Tomorrow we'll talk about hockey, reviewing the Winter Classic and talking about the Blackhawks and how they are presenting the team right now (spoiler alert: it's good). Wednesday we'll talk about the Colts and the first pick. |
